The past nine months or so I’ve been involved in a writing project for Vocal Inc that is very close to my heart. For the first time I have published part of my story of living with bipolar disorder. The final product, a book titled Fire Stories, explores the complicated relationship with reality and the various ways attempted to resolve the brilliant colors of perception and imagination with a society that is often far more black and white.
Fire Stories is a collection of 12 narratives (one of them being mine) that reveal the chaotic and often deeply spiritual experiences of those who have encountered states of mind often labeled as mental illness. These vivid accounts describe emotional turbulence, hidden blessings, mad gifts, ecstatic visions, altered states, spiritual breakthroughs and visionary meltdowns. This is small but powerful book is on Amazon.com for $8.
